When she was with Stefan she thought she had lost everyone (everyone, notice she didn’t even remember she had Jeremy) and she was hurting. She was in Alaric’s classroom packing everything up and losing it just like she was tonight. But Stefan told her that even though she was hurting, it was okay, that was her humanity. When Stefan said ‘help her,’ he meant to do it like that up there. Not take the easy way out.
Not turn her into a heartless robot. The complete opposite of what the real Elena Gilbert actually is. The one Stefan, and Damon, fell in love with.
